Our History

  • Practice founded in Danville, Virginia in 1974, by audiologist, Danny W. Gnewikow, Ph.D., FAAA, CCC.
  • Practice founded in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1980, by audiologist, Danny W. Gnewikow, Ph.D., FAAA, CCC.
  • Audiology Hearing Aid Associates is one of the oldest independent audiology practices in Virginia and one of the largest private audiology practices on the East Coast.
  • Our experience includes the fitting of over 40,000 hearing aids.
  • Our audiology staff has over 140 years combined experience. 
  • Our clinics were among the first centers to offer programmable digital hearing instruments.
  • Our clinical audiologists are graduate-trained, licensed, holding FAAA (Fellows of the American Academy of Audiology) and CCC-A (Clinical Certification of Competence) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Our audiology clinics in Southern and Central Virginia are staffed with Ph.D. and Au.D. doctoral level audiologists.
  • Our clinics have long been a hearing healthcare referral site for hospitals and physicians in Virginia and North Carolina. Additionally, we serve as a referral site for numerous governmental, educational, and rehabilitation agencies and professionals dealing with hearing impairment and hearing aids.
  • Our audiology staff has been proactive legislatively on both state and national levels for improvements in hearing healthcare.
  • Our practice is nationally recognized for its expertise in third-party reimbursement for hearing related services.
  • Our clinics are registered sites for the Virginia Infant Hearing Early Detection and Intervention program for testing of infants who have failed the hospital screening or who have risk factors for hearing loss.
  • Our clinics not only provide expertise in hearing aid fitting, but also provide diagnostic audiological hearing evaluations and vestibular (balance) system evaluations. Our diagnostic testing includes(but is not limited to): Tympanometry, Otoacoustic Emissions, Auditory Brainstem Response, Electrocochleography, Videonystagmography, Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials.
